…making lemonade
You need to appreciate this on several levels … I had a somewhat irate email from a co-worker today because it was perceived that I am hogging the bookings of the laptop pod (that’s the lemons)… my first reaction was irritation mainly because it was copied to our Head before it was even discussed between me and the co-worker … not a biggy I know but one of those common courtesies that I would normally try to afford others myself … truth of the matter is it was an honest mistake by me on the booking process where I selected the wrong end date etc etc and I immediately offered my help for today and then set about rectifying the long-term error – even called in TFT to helpĀ … THEN tonight, on the way home, while I was still mulling it over, it occurred to me … and I smiled … this co-worker, who professes to know little about using computers, was fighting for computer time!! (that’s the lemonade!)
But what do I do now about my dilemma that I want that time for my class?

Hi Lisa,
I am glad I happened by your blog. It’s got such a gorgeous header. So welcoming. I just got to read a few entries and I’m thrilled to be here. Your voice brings me right in.
Your dilemma is a real one. We are supposed to get kids working with tech and where’s the tech for them?
Interest is not a problem, but frustration will only grow without more support.
I wonder how do we get more of those $100 laptops?

Hi back to you Bonnie
I really dont have the energy to weigh into the $100 laptops debate – one of my heads of school sees them as a way to go, but I am not so sure I agree with his line of thinking.
His idea is to get out as much equipment as possible but I havent yet heard any mention of changing the way our teachers teach.
What do you think of the idea of the required shift in pedagogy driving the changes we need for 21st Century learning to gain momentum?
I am ruining my teeth by gritting them every time another teacher or exec tells me what I want to do is nigh on impossible because of a content-laden curriculum needing to take priority.

@Lisa-Gaye: What a frustrating day! Of course it’s quickly forgotten that the above mentioned “content-laden curriculum” has its ICT and Technology content that HAS to be met as well. So we lose out from both sides as nothing is being done to assist us in our goals.
And to add to all of that, my arm aches
