The Memory Keeper

There are things in life,

Like a big chest

They tie us to memories

The worst and the best

Like an anchor with weight,

The line cannot fail

In our minds they are fresh,

They will never go stale

In the years to come,

You mind will go back

To the things that you have,

That you will then lack

Yet for this to happen,

Your lock needs a key

This key is made of,

Things you smell, taste and see

So open me up,

Remember… then you will see

That I am your heart,

We are one, you and me

….graduation

grad Results for GradCertICTE are posted…and I made it! Phew! What a relief. All my misgivings are proven to be unfounded and I will line up to graduate along with all the others.

It was probably the most difficult study I have done – not so much as in the content (even though some of that was deadly) but more so in the incredible time balancing act it all became.

I spoke at Staff Chapel recently about RESILIENCE because I was amazed at how much of it I have had this year. Every time I thought I was under a pile of bricks I looked around me to see what everyone else was going through & just got on with it again…as we all do.

Thanks to GH for pushing, nagging, challenging, supporting and encouraging every step of the way; aren’t you glad I told you that you needed to do this study?? Congratulations GH – your results are outstanding!

Thanks also to all my mates at school & church who gave quiet encouragement & made me coffee on those mornings when all  I wanted to do was growl at everyone. It all helped more than you think.

The biggest thanks goes to my gorgeous girl SLWW…thank-you for all the squeezy hugs at just the right moments, for all the little things you did to help out, and for your gentle support and encouragement. And hey girl, you can now interrupt me any time you like!! Think of it – we both learned a lot this year, we worked hard & got the good results we deserved….love you bigger than the sky xxxxx

…i wonder

cape tribulation storm

Another seeming lack of consultation has me feeling buttonholed into a very hectic teaching program for 2008. Three new areas for me to think about and prepare for & none of them aligned with the other to any great degree. It’s too much. And I don’t think I am being defeatist or lazy; just flagging that I could be spread just a little too thinly …

What do you think? Do some schools demand too much of their teaching staff?

…it’s YOU, stupid, not the technology

The following quote comes from a quite thought provoking post from Steve Hargadon

There is just no question in my mind now that we are witnessing the initial phases of a social, cultural, and scientific change that will rival–and likely eclipse–the advent of the printing press. And it is not because of the pedagogy. While this change confirms some core beliefs that many of us have with regard to teaching and learning, and reopens the door to implementing them, the cause of this dramatic change is technological, specifically the read/write Web (or Web 2.0). It is the use of the Web as a contributor as much as a consumer of information.

…you should read the remainder of this post because it has some valid comments – do I say that because he agrees with my way of thinking? Read it and comment!
